The principle

Many designers become recognisable through consistent typographic choices. A personal type system — a primary typeface, a secondary face, and rules for size and spacing — gives your work coherence and frees you to focus on ideas. It can evolve, but it starts with a decision.

Objective. Define a personal typographic system.

The brief

Choose a primary and secondary typeface that feel like you. Define rules for how you use them, then design a poster that demonstrates the system.

Constraints

  • Two typefaces maximum
  • Write at least five rules for size, weight, case and spacing
  • Display the rules on the poster

You're done when

  • A clearly defined type system
  • Well-written rules
  • A poster that demonstrates the system

Stretch goal

Use this system for every remaining day of the challenge.
