The principle

A self-portrait does not need a face. Objects, colours, places, habits and words can describe a person more truthfully than a photograph. Designing a portrait of yourself asks what you value and how you want to be seen.

Objective. Express identity through symbolic and visual choices.

The brief

Design a poster that is a self-portrait without showing your face or body.

Constraints

  • No photographs or drawings of yourself
  • Use at least three personal symbols, objects or references
  • Your name may appear, but it is not required

You're done when

  • A personal, revealing portrait
  • Meaningful symbols
  • A cohesive composition

Stretch goal

Design a self-portrait of yourself ten years from now.
